Alcoa is seeking to develop Anglesea outside of it's original remit

A:

Since 1961 Alcoa has existed alongside the Anglesea township with leased and purchased (freehold) land that was annexed from the State Forest. Alcoa is looking to make a profit from the sale of it's freehold land.

This land was assigned as a Special Use Zone specifically prohibiting:

  • Residential Housing
  • Retail
  • Industry

Alcoa expect to rezone their freehold land to maximise the return on sale prior to departure. The proposed uses directly conflict the zoning under which Alcoa was provided the land.
